Beta Terms of Use

1. About the KANGYM beta

KANGYM is a learning platform designed to help users learn and remember Japanese kanji.

The service is currently in beta. This means that:

• Features may change.
• Some features may be incomplete.
• Bugs or technical problems may occur.
• Learning systems and content may be adjusted as we improve the product.
• Parts of the service may occasionally be unavailable.
• Features may be added, modified, or removed during the beta.

We will try to keep KANGYM stable and useful, but beta software should not be expected to work perfectly at all times.

2. Who can use KANGYM?

The current KANGYM beta is intended for users aged 14 or older.

If you are under 14, you should not create a KANGYM account during the current beta.

If you are under 18, you should only use KANGYM where you have any permission or authorization required by the laws that apply to you.

You must provide accurate information when creating your account and must not impersonate another person.

3. Your account

You are responsible for activity performed through your KANGYM account.

You should:

• Keep access to your account secure.
• Use an email address you are authorized to use.
• Tell us if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.
• Avoid sharing account access with other people.

We may take reasonable security measures where we detect suspicious or abusive activity.

4. What KANGYM provides

KANGYM may provide features including:

• Kanji lessons.
• Mnemonic stories.
• Kanji components.
• Spaced repetition.
• Scheduled reviews.
• Learning progress.
• Study activity.
• Streaks.
• Custom stories.
• Other learning features introduced during the beta.

The exact features available may change as KANGYM develops.

5. The beta is currently free

The current KANGYM beta is offered free of charge.

We may introduce paid plans, subscriptions, or premium features in the future.

If that happens:

• We will clearly explain the price and what is included before you pay.
• You will not be automatically enrolled into a paid plan simply because you participated in the free beta.
• We will not charge you without the required authorization.
• Additional terms may apply to paid services.

Using the free beta does not create an obligation to purchase KANGYM later.

6. Learning results

KANGYM is an educational tool.

We aim to help you learn kanji effectively, but everyone learns differently.

We therefore cannot guarantee:

• That you will learn a specific number of kanji.
• That you will remember every kanji permanently.
• That you will reach a particular JLPT level.
• That you will reach a particular level of Japanese.
• That using KANGYM alone will be sufficient to learn Japanese.

Your results depend on factors including your study frequency, previous knowledge, practice, and how you use the service.

KANGYM should be treated as a learning tool, not as a guarantee of a particular educational result.

7. Your stories and content

KANGYM may allow you to write or edit mnemonic stories and other learning content.

You remain responsible for content that you create.

By storing content in KANGYM, you give us the limited permission necessary to:

• Store it.
• Process it.
• Display it back to you.
• Synchronize it with your account.
• Perform the technical operations necessary to provide KANGYM.

This does not transfer ownership of your original content to KANGYM.

You must not use KANGYM to store or submit content that:

• Is illegal.
• Infringes another person's intellectual property.
• Contains malicious software or code.
• Is intended to abuse, threaten, or harm others.
• Attempts to interfere with the operation or security of KANGYM.

8. Feedback

Because KANGYM is in beta, feedback is especially valuable.

If you voluntarily send us feedback, ideas, bug reports, suggestions, or comments about KANGYM, you allow us to use that feedback to develop, modify, and improve the service.

Providing feedback does not give you ownership over future KANGYM features that may be inspired by or similar to that feedback.

You are not required to provide feedback.

9. Acceptable use

You may use KANGYM for personal learning and other lawful purposes consistent with the service.

You must not:

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to KANGYM or another user's account.
• Circumvent security measures.
• Deliberately interfere with the service.
• Introduce malware or harmful code.
• Use automated systems to overload or abuse the service.
• Scrape or systematically extract substantial amounts of KANGYM content without permission.
• Copy or redistribute proprietary KANGYM content in violation of applicable intellectual property rights.
• Use KANGYM for illegal activities.

Reasonable personal use of the service is allowed.

10. KANGYM content and intellectual property

KANGYM and its original content, including its design, software, branding, illustrations, learning materials, original mnemonic stories, and other proprietary materials, may be protected by intellectual property laws.

Except where expressly permitted, these terms do not give you ownership of KANGYM or its proprietary content.

Japanese kanji characters and other material that is in the public domain or owned by third parties are not claimed by KANGYM merely because they appear in the service.

11. Availability and changes

We may update KANGYM at any time during the beta.

This may include changing:

• Features.
• Interface design.
• Kanji content.
• Learning order.
• Review algorithms.
• Progress systems.
• Technical infrastructure.
• Beta limits.

We may also temporarily suspend parts of KANGYM for maintenance, security, updates, or technical reasons.

Where reasonably possible, we will try to avoid unnecessary disruption.

12. Beta data and technical issues

We take reasonable measures to protect account and learning information.

However, because KANGYM is still in beta, technical errors may occur.

You acknowledge that the beta may occasionally experience issues such as:

• Incorrect progress displays.
• Review scheduling errors.
• Temporary service interruptions.
• Sync problems.
• Bugs affecting learning data.

If you notice a problem, please report it so we can investigate it.

Nothing in these terms limits the data protection rights described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Suspension or termination

You can stop using KANGYM at any time.

You may also delete your account through the available account deletion process.

We may restrict or suspend an account where reasonably necessary because of:

• Serious or repeated violations of these terms.
• Security risks.
• Fraud or abuse.
• Attempts to damage or disrupt KANGYM.
• Legal requirements.

Where appropriate, we will try to provide reasonable notice before permanently terminating an account, unless immediate action is necessary for security, legal, or abuse-prevention reasons.

14. Ending the beta

The KANGYM beta will not necessarily continue indefinitely.

We may:

• End the beta.
• Replace it with another version of KANGYM.
• Move some features into a paid service.
• Change who can participate.
• Reset or migrate parts of the beta where technically necessary.

If a significant change affects user accounts or learning data, we will try to provide reasonable notice where possible.

Participation in the beta does not guarantee permanent access to KANGYM or to any particular feature.

15. Disclaimer

We work to make KANGYM reliable, accurate, and useful.

However, during the beta, KANGYM is provided with the limitations normally associated with software that is still under development.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not guarantee that the service will always be:

• Error-free.
• Uninterrupted.
• Available.
• Completely accurate.
• Compatible with every device or browser.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or protections that cannot legally be excluded.

16. Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, KANGYM will not be responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses caused by the use or temporary unavailability of the beta.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by law.

If you use KANGYM as a consumer, these terms do not remove any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

17. Privacy

Your use of KANGYM is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

They explain what information we collect, why we process it, and what rights and choices you have.

18. Changes to these terms

Because KANGYM is evolving, we may update these Beta Terms.

When we make changes, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page.

If we make an important change affecting your rights or use of the service, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.

Continuing to use KANGYM after updated terms take effect may require you to accept the new terms where applicable.

19. Applicable law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operation of KANGYM in Spain, without depriving consumers of any mandatory protections provided by the law of their country of residence where those protections apply.

Any dispute will be handled according to the jurisdiction rules required by applicable law.
